Cosmetic Surgery Takes A Big Hit!




Since 1997, the number of cosmetic procedures in the United States has steadily risen. From 1997 to 2002, there was a 228% increase in the number of cosmetic procedures. In 2001, that number peaked at 8.5 million. However, in 2002 there was only a 1% increase in the number of surgical procedures and a 23% decline in nonsurgical procedures!



“Plastic surgery will always be needed,” says Dr. Sam Speron, renown plastic surgery expert. “Last year was the first time in as long as I can remember that the cosmetic surgery trends took a hit. The nonsurgical procedures went from 6.9 million to 5.2 million. That is a very significant problem. I think the reality is that plastic surgeons are losing interest in a lot of these nonsurgical procedures. And trust me, there are many non-plastic surgeons waiting to pick up the slack!”
