Natural Cosmetics Company Integrates Traditional Beauty Wisdom into New Product Line

"What’s your beauty secret?" is a question often asked around circles of women. Philadelphia resident Sandra Thebaud, always intrigued with the relationship between beauty, diet, and traditional beauty “potions”, traveled the globe to spas in remote locations in South America, South Pacific, and the Caribbean, where beauty is achieved through age-old recipes traditional to their ancient cultures. Back home, Thebaud now manufacturers similar formulations under the product line Botany’s Desire and is available online at www.indigenousbeauty.com.

American-based cosmetics companies are often marketing a science-based beauty concept, such as their salespeople in lab coats, or slick ads with product-promotion terms such as revolutionary and advanced. However Thebaud is suggesting something new but old—as she traveled throughout the world, she observed how many other cultures have beautiful skin. “I researched ancient healing practices of these cultures, and integrate
these properties into my formulations,” says Thebaud. Botany’s Desire products are handmade to order in small batches using only the best available organic or biodynamically grown therapeutic grade oils and herbs. The ingredient list is filled with items one can purchase from a health food store, and formulations often read like a cooking recipe. “People are more aware of what they are putting on their bodies. Our skin is our largest organ and is very permeable. People don’t want to be rubbing chemicals into their bodies.” For more information contact Sandra Thebaud at 267.251.5953.

Indigenous Beauty, www.indigenousbeauty.com is a Philadelphia-based virtual store featuring all natural beauty and food products. Botany’s Desire and Organic Beeswax are lines produced exclusively by Indigenous Beauty. Launched in October 2002 by company President Sandra Thebaud, the company’s mission is to promote the beauty and nutritional practices of indigenous cultures.
